What up Flatcappers! It's the Captain here, wishing you all the best for the summer! Love, love, love!! I hope you all have the most fun that is physically possible, and we'll do our best to be part of it!
First things first, NEW MUSIC! For those of you sensible enough to not use facebook, here's a little freebee James Brown remix that might have passed you by. Ghetto Funk.co.uk had to say about it:
"When I first saw the title of this freebie, I did chuckle. I don’t always associate skid marks with the god father of Soul! But it did make me think. The late James used to bosh it a bit, run around on stage, sweating, wearing skin tight white jump suits. I’d imagine his rusty sheriffs badge would’ve caused a mark or two during these performances. So in light of that, he probably did James Brown his pants. Fast forward to Flatcaps Bassy reflex of one of James’s classic cuts. Stick an unsuspecting OAP next to a funktion one speaker with this cranked. I’d imagine she’d James Brown her massive pants also! Skids or no skids, get this on your system and see if it has the same effect for you."
Right, now that that silliness is aside I'll give you a run down of other recent occurrences in the Flatcap world! We've had a monumental year so far, lots of splendid occasions with lovely people jumping around and being merry, and it's only just bloomin' started!!!
Our first festival experience this year was The Shindig Weekender. The Dutty Moonshine Big Band were cool enough to have us come on stage to perform 'Bonklet' with them (the track we wrote together last year). What energy! Such an amazing first gig of the festival season. Check out this fan video capturing the carnage.
Next up, No Man's Land Festival, our first full live set of the year, cheers to Oliver Pooley for the wicked photos:
Last weekend we had a couple of amazing gigs, the first of which was supporting the mighty Freestylers in Milton Keynes. Check it out!
We didn't think gigs could get much better than that... but the following night this happened at Scala (London) for the 'Whirl'y'gig Summer Celebration'
Here's a couple of photos from the same gig:
I recently recorded a new DJ mix for the lovely people at PostBreaks, check it out, its a little different to my usual mixes, focusing more on funk and breaks, but has a bit of everything really!
We've got loads of T-Shirts in stock(either in black or white) Lady's small tops, lady's medium tops, small t-shirts, medium, large and extra large! Click below if you fancy purchasing one!
Don't forget the latest 'Electro Swing Club' compilation is out now which includes our track 'One Your Bike'! It's an awesome CD which crosses the musical spectrum of the 'Electro Swing' genre and the many sub genres that make up the dynamic contrast of the scene!
Here's a link to listen to/ purchase the compilation:
I think that just about covers what's occurred recently... I best remind you what's due to occur soon!
