Oi oi you lot! A very happy new year to you all! Time for a Flatcap update! There's not really much pattern to how often I do these news posts other than when enough has happened that it's worthwhile telling you about! And by 'eck has enough happened in the last month!

We're got a brand new track out! It's out on the mighty Scour Records as part of their latest FREE E.P entitled 'Freemixed Nuts Vo.3'. The track is sort of a remix of two different tracks at the same time… you'll see what I mean,  'The Music Brewery' has this to say about it:

"One of the really intriguing singles for me is ‘Freaky Drop’ by Captain Flatcap, an audacious tune with heavy electro beats to accompany the sampling of 'Le Freak' and ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’. Before you recoil in disgust at what sounds like a butchery of two quality songs, both superb in their own right, give it a listen and try and appreciate it as a skilful, heavy breaks production in its own right."

CHECK OUT THE E.P HERE!

We've got a Remix E.P coming out on the 8th February featuring four remixes by four different artists of each track off our 'Bonklet E.P'. 'Jenova Collective' have prepared a mighty Dubstep remix of the title track 'Bonklet', '90 Long' (Cut La Roc's new alias) has made a chilled house version of 'Enhancement', the funkiest man in breakbeat right now; 'Father Funk' has beefed up 'Blaze Up', and the winner of our remix competition 'Mr Biggz' has done some interesting things to "On Your Bike'.

Speaking of Mr.Biggz. Kane FM recently went live again a couple of weeks ago after relocating their studio. I celebrating by putting together a special edition of 'The Vintage Remix Show' which featured an interview with Mr.Biggz and his partner in crime 'FunkMaster Bates' as well as an exclusive guest mix from them too! Check out the listen again mix cloud upload of the show below:

Continuing my series of free throw away blends, I recently uploaded a mashup of Ini Kamoze's 'Here Comes The HotStepper'  and Odbjox's 'Birmingham' track. I've entitled the mashup "Here Comes The Odjsteppa' and was kindly also featured on the 'Ghetto Funk' blog. Check it out here:

The 2015 'Breakspoll' international breakbeat awards are fast approaching, and some how (lord knows how), we've been nominated for track of the year with 'Bonklet', the title track from our E.P. If you fancy voting for us it only takes a minute or so, we're not expecting to come anywhere near winning, but you never know ey! Click HERE to vote for us.

Hmmmm what else is going on? Well I've got my first DJ set abroad at the end of the month, I'm going to be going to Belgium with my homie 'Jimi Needles'! I'm a little bit excited about that one!!!! The Belgians have described me as 'Master of glitch'! That's news to me! But extremely complimentary!! For more info on that event CLICK HERE.

We've also got a night coming up next month with 'Father Funk' up in Leeds. Also on the lineup are 'Beartwists' and 'Waggles'! Its gonna be a banger of a night! More info on that one coming soon, keep your eyes pealed on our Facebook page.

Also, you can keep up to date with my DJ residency nights (which happen pretty much on a weekly basis in and around Guildford) either via our Facebook page or via our official website.

That's all folks! Just wanted to wrap things up by giving a big thank you to those of you who've come out to our recent gigs. Last Saturday we played at the 'Electro Swing Club' London, met some lovely people and played to a completely packed room, it was a wicked night, big ups if you were there! Also big ups to those of you who came out to see us on Christmas Eve down at the Wooden Bridge in Guildford, was lovely to see so many faces, especially on Christmas Eve. I'll leave you with a cheeky little video taken during our performance of 'Enhancement' that night, apologies about the slightly out of sync audio, but you'll get the general vibe of the night! Nice one guys, keep swinging', laters!
